Production News

Nehemiah

Last week we met with some people who have received training from Nehemiah to use within communities around Birmingham as well as someone who inspired the project. They all had such different styles and ways of working but still all have made huge differences to their communities. In October we’ll be filming them and meeting some people who they’ve helped.

The Door Gallery

We have just got back from our filming with The Door Gallery. They’re unique in how they work as they aren’t just a showroom that sells doors, they also can manufacture, modify and treat the doors too. A one stop shop for their customers. We also got to meet a lot of the staff who were wonderfully friendly and welcoming. The finished video will go onto their website.

Music Video Shoot

Pre-production work has started on a music video we’re involved with that will be shooting at the beginning of October. We think we’ve found our location but we’re still looking for a set of identical female twins to star in it. They need to be comfortable in front of a camera but previous acting experience isn’t a necessity. Anyone interested should let us know on 0121 233 3441.

Delcam – Mach 2010

@Warblefly Productions collaborated with Delcam again to film at the Mach 2010 event. We interviewed various companies exhibiting at the event and currently use Delcam software to showcase the positives of using it. This video will be available on the website soon.

JK Advertising – Humza

JK Advertising came to @Warblefly and asked us to film a commercial for Humza frozen food. The Birmingham based company wanted a commercial to showcase how helpful the frozen food can be to serve quick samosas, kebabs and burgers as well as the other food they offer. The one day shoot took place in Kings Heath on a rare sunny day.

Nehemiah

We’ve just teamed up with the Nehemiah foundation to create a video for them to take to communities and show the positives from the project. Nehemiah Foundation reps go into communities and work towards creating a better environment and community cohesion. Each community requires something different and that’s reflected in how each rep works. The service is completely tailor made to meet the needs of those in the community.

Age of Grace – Dignity in Care

We were lucky enough to be able to have the chance to meet Margaret Harries from Dignity in Care who works here in Birmingham. Eileen was on hand to speak to her about the work that the Birmingham NHS Trust does to look after the dignity that older patients have whilst in hospital.

The Door Gallery

We have been asked to create three videos for the Door Gallery to help
promote them as a company and also to give them more of a web presence. The Door Gallery as you may have guessed specialise in hand crafted made to measure doors for anything from front doors to conservatories. Check them out here: www.thedoorgallery.com

Filming in Perth

Next week Warren will be jetting off to Perth where he will meet with the Centre of the Ageing in Western Australia. We’ll be seeing how differently older people are treated in Australia compared to here and other places around the world that we’ve seen.

Our trip to Denmark and Sweden

9 04 2010

Age of Grace

Denmark and Sweden

This week is our second week back after filming in Denmark and Sweden. It was a tiring week but it was also great. We met some really wonderful, passionate people and saw some beautiful cities. If you have never been to Stockholm you should go, it was a hit with @Warblefly.

Day one

We got the ferry from Harwich. Gordon Birch, our presenter, spent most of his working life on ships and it wasn’t long before he was talking to various officers and I think even the captain. We filmed Gordon talking about his time sailing and what he was looking forward to finding out from our trip.

Day two

We arrived in Denmark around lunchtime which was a perfect reason to have our first Danish food. We all had smørrebrød, which is a Danish open sandwich. We then carried on driving to Copenhagen where we stayed the night in the Wakeup Copenhagen Hotel.

Day three

In the morning we filmed in central Copenhagen and got some general shots of the city. After that we headed on our way to Stockholm, a mere 400 or so miles. Just as we were getting closer to Stockholm is started snowing quite heavily, as pretty as snow is it just made the drive harder. There we stayed in the lovely Hotel Birger Jarl.

Day four

Our first full day of filming started at PRO headquarters. We interviewed Håkan Walander, Anita Jonsson and Lars Bergendal.  All three of them were older people and had a lot to say about what it’s like living in Sweden once you get to pension age.

Day five

We were lucky enough to be able to film in one of the museums in Stockholm where our interviewee for the day is a volunteer. We went to Skansen open air museum which opened in 1891 and has 150 historical buildings and houses. We then went to the area Gamla Stan which is the old town of Stockholm. The buildings in the area and in all of Stockholm are just beautiful.

Day six

Before heading back to Copenhagen we interviewed Guy Lööv at PRO. He told us what the organisation does and what it means for older people in Sweden. We were also interested to learnt that English football is very popular in Sweden and Guy’s son supports Aston Villa while Guy supports Grimsby Town after he went there when he was a child.

Day seven

The sun made a very welcome appearance while we were filming by a harbour which just made everywhere look beautiful. A definite highlight for the trip, both for filming and somewhere nice for us to visit. Though it wasn’t long until we were heading back to Esbjerg ready to get the ferry back to Harwich.
